WELSHPOOL Town take on Holyhead Hotspur in the quarter-finals of the Welsh Trophy on Saturday (2pm).

The Lilywhites go into the game as underdogs against one of Anglesey’s biggest clubs with a bumper gate expected at Maesydre.

Spokesman Russell Cadwallader urged the people of the town to come out and cheer on their side against the North Wales Alliance leaders.

“We feel we go into the game as massive underdogs, with Holyhead probably the team we least wanted to draw,” said Cadwallader. “They have been an established Cymru North team for the past 10 years and although relegated last year look like they will make an immediate return.”

Pool have overcome Waterloo Rovers, Four Crosses, Cefn Mawr and Radnor Valley to reach the last eight and Holyhead represented the greatest challenge yet.

“We have had a really positive experience in this cup so far but under no illusions of the magnitude of the task we face against a team that is used to winning and who will have the physical attributes of most North Wales sides.”

Jake Mann misses out through suspension while Ian Probert is injured and Sam Evans is unavailable with veteran Chris Roberts added to the squad.
