RYAN Edwards is in line to make his Newtown debut at his former club TNS tonight (Friday).

The midfielder completed a switch from JD Cymru Premier rivals Aberystwyth Town last week, joining Tom Goodwin in bolstering the Robins ranks after returning from Caersws.

However the New Saints were unable to strengthen during the window.

Instead winger Billy Whitehouse departed Park Hall to join English tier six minnows Spennymoor United on loan.

TNS manager Scott Ruscoe conceded he would have preferred to have strengthened his squad but remained content with his options.

“I think I would’ve liked one just to come in and freshen things up, but it wasn’t to be.

“It’s just nice sometimes to get a new face in the building and push the players on to get going for the final 10 games.

“We believe in the squad, we know it’s good enough. That’s why we were only really looking for maybe one or two players anyway just to strengthen us a bit.

“It’s a strong squad we have regardless without additions.”

Midfielder Jon Routledge is a fitness doubt but Ruscoe remained confident his squad could hold off the challenge of Nathaniel MG Cup winners Connahs Quay Nomads and retain the JD Cymru Premier title.

Ruscoe said: “It’s going to be important to keep everyone fresh as we approach the latter stages of the season.
