Llanrhaeadr 0 Colwyn Bay 1
LLANRHAEADR slipped to a slender home defeat at the hands of Colwyn Bay.
An even opening saw Kian Owen fire over and Callum Parry test home goalkeeper Jimmy Hayns while Iwan Matthews dragged a shot wide for the hosts.
Marc Griffiths tested Bay goalkeeper Andy Couglin on half an hour but just five minutes later the Seagulls led with Alex Downes scrambling home after Beau Cornish’s shot was blocked in a packed goalmouth.
Matthews came close to levelling on half-time only for Coughlin to tip his goalbound headed effort away.
Hayns denied Tom McCready and Darren Thornton to keep Llanrhaeadr in contention in the second-half while Matthews fired wide for Llanrhaeadr.
With seconds remaining the hosts were given a route back into the game with a penalty awarded following an infringement only for George Mitten’s penalty to be saved by Coughlin to deny Llanrhaeadr a last gasp point.
LLANRHAEADR: Hayns, M Evans, Edmunds, Thomas, Wyton, Bailey, Mitten, Vaughan, Matthews, Griffiths, Hindley. Subs: Makinson, Aitken, Kelly, Graham, Green
