MID Wales athletes flew the flag for the region at last weekend’s Welsh Indoor Athletics Championship in Cardiff.
Adele Nicoll topped the women’s shot put podium with a throw of 15.96m earning the former Welshpool High School student and current Birchfield Harrier Athletics Club star a gold.
Meanwhile current Welshpool High School student Ryan Edwards returned home with two silver medals.
The Maldwyn Harriers Athletics Club star claimed a silver in the triple jump with a leap of 13.04 which also represented a new personal best.
The teenager also claimed a silver and a new PB in the triple jump with an effort of 6.76m.
The Newtown based athletics club further enhanced its growing reputation across Wales with one of its coaches claiming a place on the podium.
Owen Chesher claimed a national silver medal in the high jump with an effort of 1.83m.
Maldwyn Harriers will also be well represented this weekend as the capital stages the Welsh Junior Championships with a host of up and coming talent expected to challenge for places on the podium.
