NEWTOWN slipped to a 19-17 defeat at home to Pwllheli in the North Wales Youth Premiership.
The Llyn peninsula visitors led with a converted try only for the home side to be stirred into action with a try from centre Jacob Davies, converted by Rhys Morris.
Morris added a penalty to give the hosts a slender interval lead.
Newtown looked to maintain the momentum after the break with No9 George Jones winning possession to release Davies for his second try of the day with Morris converting.
However far from crumble the visitors threw everything at the home side and hit back with a try with 10 minutes remaining.
Town looked to defend their slender lead but with just seconds remaining Pwllheli completed their comeback with a try.
More than 40 players took part in the game which was heralded a great advertisement for the league with Newtown turning their attention to the forthcoming North Wales Final.
