GUILSFIELD host Llandudno on Saturday as the villagers seek to maintain their top three bid.

Top scorer Adam Davies’ departure to Aberystwyth Town leaves the Guils shorn of attacking options ahead of the weekend with a trip to Buckley Town on the cards on Tuesday.

Steve Blenkinsop and Sam Litchfield remain injury absentees but club spokesman Martin Roberts backed the threadbare Guils to raise their game.

“We go into a two matches in a four day spell having sat out for the last fortnight,” said Roberts.

“While the players have trained well this does not totally match playing 90 minutes in a competitive league.

“We have gradually crept up the table, having created the second best record over the last 10 games and despite missing key players the squad has pulled together to show our willingness to work for each other and play out if position when needed.

“Llandudno will be a big test because they have strengthened during the window while Buckley will be a physical challenge on a testing surface so anything up there will be grasped with two hands.”

Penrhyncoch welcome Bangor City to Cae Baker with Gari Lewis urging his players to be brave.

The Roosters are without the suspended Steffan Davies.

“Italians and Argentinians make up the majority of their squad and obviously they technically and athletically fit and some would say full time with them training during the week.

“We will not be showing them too much respect and need to be at our toughest and most brave.”

Lewis hoped to put behind last week’s defeat at Gresford behind him but confessed his disappointment.

“We were gutted to lose last sat after such a super performance with only 12 players after problems with illness and work issue,” said Lewis.

“We have to put it behind us and try to prepare as well as we can for Bangor.”

Meanwhile Llanfair United make the long haul trip to Anglesey with fellow strugglers Llangefni Town their hosts.

United make the trip on the back of a 7-1 hammering at Rhyl last week but manager Rhys Stephens insisted his squad remained upbeat.

“We are going up there not sulking about last weeks result but looking to win the game,” said Stephens.

Meanwhile high flying Llanrhaeadr can enjoy a break this weekend with no fixture due to the league operating with 17 clubs this season.
