NEWTOWN have missed out on the signing of attacking midfielder Craig Pritchard.

The former Colwyn Bay standout Craig Pritchard has instead penned a deal at Oswestry Town.

The talented playmaker is the latest big addition at the NWCFL League Division One South side in recent weeks with ex Guilsfield striker Asa Hamilton also joining the set-up following his release by Rhyl.

Pritchard made a series of outstanding performances for Marine during the current campaign and originally agreed terms with JD Cymru Premier outfit Newtown before the Football Association of Wales (FAW) scuppered the deal.

This was due to the forward’s time in New Zealand playing for Melville United, which counts as one of two clubs the FAW permit you to play for in one campaign.

Pritchard played a leading role in Denbigh Town’s second-placed Huws Gray Alliance finish under Eddie Maurice-Jones, which was their highest ever league position, before securing a move to the Seagulls.

Pritchard gained a number of plaudits during his time at Bay and a potential National League move was touted at one stage before joining his brother Mike in the southern hemisphere.

The quick-footed player is also a member of the Welsh Futsal squad and has contributed considerably to their rise to prominence in recent years.
