LLANIDLOES Town face a stern test of their MMP-NL Mid Wales League One title ambitions at home to Welshpool Town on Saturday.

A bumper gate is expected for the traditional Montgomeryshire derby with both sides riding high in confidence.

A Llanidloes Town spokesman said: “Welshpool are in a fine form high after their exploits in the FAW Trophy.

“We take every game as it comes and are well aware that we must play our ‘A game’ on Saturday if we are to maintain our lead at the top.

“There will be high interest for this fixture and we expect a good old fashioned Mid Wales league thriller.”

Meanwhile Builth Wells entertain Carno with Sam Williams set to deputise in goal with regular Stuart Turpin ruled out.

Sean Powell will also miss the remainder of the season but the Bulls welcome Jonny Samuel and Tom Bethel back into contention.

Manager Dylan McPhee said: “We were excellent at Caersws last week but take one game at a time and it is always a tough game against Carno.

“The title is in Llanidloes’ hands and all the pressure on them. They will take some stopping and deservedly lead the table.”

Carno manager Gary Jones has backed his players to end the season on a high following his appointment last week.

“With hard work we can finish the season positively,” said Jones.

Meanwhile an injury hit Caersws travel to Llandrindod Wells with assistant manager Gareth Jones adamant the villagers hard work would be rewarded.

“It will be tough but we go there to win,” said Jones. “The 11 players starting need to focus, work hard and get back to basics.”

Berriew bid to pick themselves up after their Welsh Trophy exit at home to Bow Street.

Manager Dave Jones said: “Bow Street will be fit and organised and we go into the game looking to put last weekend’s disappointment behind us.”

“Our form has generally been good but we need to start to taking our chances

our performances since October have generally been very good but we need to start taking some of our many clear cut chances.”

Meanwhile Montgomery Town host Llansantffraid with manager Luke Williams warning his side not underestimate the basement side.

“We had a tough game up there and expect a tough game at home,” said Williams.

Elsewhere Four Crosses host Radnor Valley and Aberaeron entertain Kerry.
