Aberavon Quins 17 Builth Wells 14
BUILTH Wells fell agonisingly short in defeat at league leaders Aberavon Quins.
The Bulls paid the price for a lack of composure as the home side capitalised to claim a slender win.
The inform Rob Lloyd kicked Builth ahead with a penalty before a period of sustained pressure led to a line-out drive and try from Josh Price, converted by Kyle Broom.
Veteran full-back Lloyd kept Builth in the hunt with a penalty to bring his side within a point of the hosts at the break.
Builth centre Steffan Towns was tackled just short of the try line as the visitors started the second-half on top but soon led when the home side were punished for ill discipline with a yellow card and Lloyd capitalised by landing a drop goal
Builth looked to build on their lead but wasted opportunities allowed the Quins back into the game with a penalty from Broom.
The hosts regained their lead with a try from wing Rhys Edmunds, converted by Broom.
However Builth refused to surrender and reduced the arrears with a try from Ben Pugh following an unstoppable driving maul but the usually reliable boot of Lloyd failed to add the extras.
Builth continued to pile forward in search of a breakthrough but had to be content with a losing bonus point as the Quins held out.
BUILTH: T Davies, Pugh, Price, L Evans, Morris, Brown, Samuel, Beehan, Williams, G Jones, Baggett, Towns, T Davies, Powell, Lloyd. Reps - R Jones, Parry, Morgan, G Davies, Lewis, Nixon.
