KNIGHTON Town have looked to the future with the unveiling of Mark Jones as the club's manager for next season.

Jones is currently among one of the senior members of the squad at Bryn-Y-Castell and will succeed Simon Vickress at the end of the current MMP-NL Mid Wales League Two season.

Jones said: "After spending five years at Knighton Town as a player the club is close to my heart and I am delighted to be appointed manager.

"After seeing the club go through some tough times in recent years I am hugely determined to to turn the fortunes on the pitch around and make this club successful again.

"Many people at the club, most notably Gary Cooper and Simon Vickress, put their lives and souls into the club and deserve success to match their passion and commitment.

"Starting from the final whistle of the season, and even before, I will be putting in 110 per cent effort into getting everything in place and installing the philosophy to help this club gradually progress to where it should be.

"Most of all I want to put together a team the people of Knighton are proud to come and watch week in, week out."

Jones backed Vickress to maintain his work in improving the club following a testing season.

"Simon is doing a fantastic job and I wish him all the best for the remainder of the campaign."
