NEWTOWN Cricket Club have been dealt a blow with the departure of Dave Laird.
The all rounder has joined Henshalls Shropshire Premier League side Sentinel where he compiled more than 2,000 runs and 100 wickets during a previous spell.
Laird stands in the top 10 batsmen and wicket takers for the Shropshire club which expressed delight at his return.
A club spokesman said: "With the new year comes a massive new signing for Sentinel as we welcome back one of our favourite sons in league and knockout winner David Laird."
Laird departs the Recreation Ground following a great campaign with the first division club which yielded 398 runs, 19 wickets and three catches last summer.
