Llanrhaeadr storm back to stun Rhyl
LLANRHAEADR completed the comeback of the season with a 5-3 win at Rhyl in JD Cymru North on New Year’s Day.
The hosts raced ahead with two goals from Cai Owen and a Tom Creamer strike only for the villagers to hit back after the break with a quickfire brace from Matty Williams.
Gary Meredith levelled before Williams completed his hat-trick and Iwan Matthews netted late on to complete a stunning victory for Llanrhaeadr.
Elsewhere Guilsfield began 2020 on a high with a 3-1 derby win at home to Penrhyncoch.
Robbie James gave the Guils a ninth minute lead before goals from Adam Jenkins and Adam Davies gave the hosts a commanding lead.
Ifan Burrell reduced the arrears for Penrhyn early in the second-half but Guilsfield were not to be denied a winning start to the year and comfortably saw out the match.
Meanwhile Llanfair United crashed to a 3-0 defeat at Corwen with goals from Tom Mann, Dale Davies and Owen Cordiner sealing the basement battle points for the hosts.
