A SELL OUT crowd of 1,420 watched Newtown stun Maltese giants Valletta in the Europa League first qualifying round first leg in July 2015.

On a never to be forgotten night Luke Boundford headed home Matty Owen’s 40th minute free-kick for the Robins to celebrate their first European goal in 19 years.

The Robins dominated only for the Maltese side to level with 15 minutes remaining.

However Newtown were not to be denied and with five minutes left on the clock Jason Oswell slotted home from close range to send Latham Park wild.

Newtown also won the second leg in Malta with Oswell again on target before Owen struck a late winner in a 2-1 win to complete a 4-2 aggregate victory with the Robins going out to Danish giants Copenhagen in the next round.
