PENRHYNCOCH and Llanfair United go head to head at Cae Baker on Saturday in an eagerly anticipated Mid Wales derby.

The hosts going into the game as favourites despite a slump in form with Llanfair propping up the table and still without a win in the league this season.

However Roosters manager Gari Lewis remained cautious and warned his side never to underestimate a side managed by his opposite number Rhys Stephens who he had the upmost respect.

“Regardless that they are struggling at the moment will be confident of picking up points against us as we have also been struggling lately.

“We are a bit low on confidence but will be trying to to turn the corner as quickly as we can.

“Any team Rhys brings will be competitive and tough so it should be a cracking game and one we really look forward to.”

Lewis is joined by assistant Aneurin Thomas in returning from suspension with the Roosters chief confident their return can galvanise his squad.

“Hopefully our return will motivate the lads and we can get more out of them,” said Lewis.

Llanfair face a big end of the year with their derby trip at Penrhyncoch followed by the visit of Guilsfield to Mount Field on the final weekend of 2019.

Manager Rhys Stephens relished the challenge ahead and one his players who rise to following a testing first half of the season.

“These games are always good games to be involved in,” said Stephens.

“We lost narrowly at home to Penrhyncoch but got totally outplayed in Guilsfield so we’ll be looking to turn those results around over the next couple of weeks.”
