Barry Town Utd 1

TNS 4

TNS maintained their place at the top of the JD Cymru Premier with an emphatic win over title rivals Barry Town United on Friday night.

The Oswestry Saints got off to the best possible start when Ryan Brobbel’s low diagonal forward ball found the on-running Aeron Edwards who ran between Luke Cooper and Curtis Watkins inside the box to slot home.

Barry equalised soon after with Clayton Green’s long ball releasing Jonathan Hood whose shot was parried by Saints goalkeeper Paul Harrison only for Kayne McLaggon to deflect home.

Parity did not last long and on 12 minutes TNS regained their lead.

Joash Nembhard’s low forward ball on the right found Dean Ebbe who was clattered in the area by Green with Swansea based referee Bryn Markham-Jones pointing to the spot where Brobbel was successful.

For much of the second-half the game remained in the balance but TND all but secured the spoils with 20 minutes remaining with Dean Ebbe rising bravely under the challenge of Barry goalkeeper George Ratcliffe to head home Danny Redmond’s corner.

The outcome was settled with two minutes remaining with substitute Greg Draper winning possession in midfield before releasing fellow cameo Jamie Mullan who lashed home from 20 yards.

TNS: Harrison. K Davies, Routledge, Ebbe (Byrne 80), Brobbel, Redmond. Cieslewicz (Mullan 63), Hudson, Nembhard, Edwards (Draper 83), Harrington. Subs: Spender, Dutton, Whitehouse.
