BISHOPS Castle Town women celebrated their first ever victory on Sunday.
Manager Bill Naden heaped praise on his side and singled out goalkeeper Sinead Mulloch for two penalty saves as Castle marched to a 4-2 win over Ellesmere.
Impressive displays from Bethany Gittens and Jade Griffiths along with Tia Lewis in attack ensured Castle always a threat while Kate Walden and Corin Morris dominated in defence.
Lewis and Hannah Yapp each struck for Castle while Tilly Hughes struck twice on a historic day for Castle.
Naden said: “This victory represents a big step forward for the women’s team, the town was buzzing all night.”
Next up for the players is a trip to Leigh Sports Village on Sunday, December 8 to watch Manchester United Women against Everton Women.
