TNS 2
Aberystwyth Town 0
TNS maintained pressure on the leaders with a comfortable win over Aberystwyth Town on Friday.
Having hit double figures in the reverse fixture the Oswestry hosts went into the game as favourites and led inside the opening three minutes.
The Seasiders defence failed to clear a looped ball into the area which fell kindly for Keston Davies to fire home.
TNS continued to press with Danny Redmond and Aeron Edwards both denied by Aberystwyth goalkeeper Alex Pennock.
However the Seasiders almost levelled before the break with Edmilson Pedro Vaz breaking through only to fire over the target.
TNS immediately reacted and doubled their lead with Ryan Brobbel rounding Pennock to net.
Neither side managed to impose themselves in the second-half with Aberystwyth having more possession only to fail to test a well drilled home defence.
Brobbel came close to adding to his tally on the hour only for his 20 yard free-kick to come back off the woodwork.
Aberystwyth almost reduced the arrears late on when veteran Geoff Kellaway burst into the area only to fire his shot onto the post as TNS survived.
TNS: Harrison, Marriott, Davies, Routledge, Brobbel (Whitehouse 85), Draper, Redmond (Cieslewicz 69), Hudson, Nembhard, Edwards (Ebbe 73), Harrington. Subs: Dutton, Byrne, Lewis.
