Newtown 3 Caernarfon Town 1
NEWTOWN revived their top six challenge with a deserved Friday night conquest of Caernarfon Town.
The large Caernarfon travelling support was silenced when Sam Barnes turned home Kieran Mills-Evans 11th minute shot after failing to clear Niall Flint's corner.
Home goalkeeper Dave Jones denied Jamie Breese and Nathan Craig before Ian Sheridan burst through a sluggish Caernarfon defence to double the lead after half an hour.
Newtown were in dreamland seven minutes into the second-half with Nick Rushton curling a low shot past a stranded Alex Ramsay.
Caernarfon laid siege and with 20 minutes remaining reduced the arrears through Cai Owen's deflected effort.
However the Robins were not to be denied a deserved three points.
NEWTOWN: Jones, McAllister, Mills-Evans, Rushton (Mwandwe 88), Sheridan (Mitchell 88), Kenton, Thorn, C Williams, Flint (M Williams 88), Kelly, Barnes. Subs: Brownfield, Berquez, Steventon.
