Berriew 3
Penparcau 2
RICHARD Davies struck twice as Berriew saw off the challenge of a resolute Penparcau to march on in the Welsh Trophy.
Joe Haycock had already been denied by the post before racing onto a long clearance from goalkeeper Gus Gately to open the scoring midway through the first-half.
Steffan Rogers blasted over for the Rhiewsiders while Penparcau threatened with Mattie Davies striking the woodwork on the stroke of half-time.
Davies was not to be denied on the hour, netting a penalty following a foul by Marc Jones.
It was time for Berriew’s Davies to restore the hosts lead with a superb 20 yard strike before completing his brace with 14 minutes remaining.
Haycock fluffed his lines as Berriew looked to put the tie to bed before Davies set up a tense finale with his second for Arky from 20 yards late on.
