Bow Street 2 Carno 3

GWYNFOR Edwards celebrated a dream start at the helm of Carno with an extra-time victory at Bow Street in the second round of the Welsh Trophy.

The tie was switched to Cae Piod with Carno’s ground unavailable and the MMP-NL Mid Wales League One rivals proved inseparable in the first-half.

Street led from the penalty spot early in the second-half with Garmon Nutting on target.

However the lead was short lived and just two minutes later the visitors restored parity with a penalty of their own from the boot of Geraint Jones.

Street regained the lead on the hour with Lee Jones on target despite the protests of the visitors who were reduced to 10 men with the dismissal of Callum Breese for dissent.

The 10 men refused to wilt and snatched a dramatic second equaliser deep into stoppage time with captain Dan Lewis leading by example to take the game to extra-time.

Carno led for the first time in the tie when new signing Ioan Humphreys struck midway through extra-time and despite late pressure from Street the Montgomeryshire side held firm to give manager Edwards a dream start.

* Meanwhile the draw for the fourth round was made on Monday night.

Powys’ four remaining representatives discovered their fate.

Carno can look forward to home advantage against either Llandudno Albion or Mynydd Isa Spartans.

Radnor Valley will also look to use home comforts against Wrexham League side Mold Alexandra.

Berriew and Welshpool Town both face days on the road.

Berriew make the trip to Wrexham League side Lex XI while Welshpool Town travel to Cefn Mawr Rangers.

Elsewhere in the draw Barmouth and Dyffryn United make the trip to Penegroes to take on Nantlle Vale.
