NEWTOWN ran riot in a 9-1 victory over Warwick IIIs in the South Midland Men’s Premier League.

Town imposed themselves from the first whistle and struck three times in the opening seven minutes with Sam Phillips-Harvey netting twice and Aidhon O’Regan also on target.

The old guard of Tudor Jones and Morris Smith contained an enthusiastic Warwick attack with a well organised defence.

Newtown piled on the pressure and rewarded with a first ever league goal for Graham Davies.

David Hamer netted twice and Andy Denham struck to give Town an unassailable seven goal interval lead.

Warwick reduced the arrears before Hamer completed his hat-trick after the break with the rout completed when Rhys Phillips released Rob Glasser to net.

Meanwhile Newtown crashed to an emphatic 7-0 defeat at Ardudwy in the North Wales Women’s League.

Elsewhere Delyth Astley’s hat-trick inspired Llanfair Caereinion to a 5-0 win at Bangor University with Moli Jones and Hannah Jones completing the scoring.
