THE Llandrindod Wells and Builth Wells primary school cluster football tournament has been hailed a resounding success.
More than 180 children in years five and six and representing 17 schools including Builth, Irfon Valley, Dolafon, Newbridge, Franksbridge, Llanelwedd, Trefonnen, Rhayader and Dolau supported the event held at Llandrindod Wells Leisure Centre last week.
The five a side event was organised by Sport Powys with each school including a minimum of two girls on their side at all times.
The event was supported by Llandrindod Wells Junior Girls Football Club and Builth Wells Junior Football Club with coaches on hand to promote their clubs and encourage players to join.
Watching parent Simon Edwards said: “Watching more than 150 children of mixed abilities playing football was amazing. The amount of girls playing was also great."
