REBECCA Richardson has been crowned Welsh Hill Climb champion.

The Llanfyllin star stunned the rest of the field in Tumble by storming to glory by a margin over nearly two minutes over her closest rival.

Richardson is enjoying a stellar season and insisted her victory over a quality field was no shock to her.

“I have worked hard this season and went into the event in good form.” said Richardson who followed up her Welsh triumph with three further hill climb victories in the same day.

Richardson’s remarkable run of consecutive victories is up 18 ahead of the British Hill Climb Championships at Haytor Vale in Devon on Sunday.

Once again the Mid Wales star will be lining up alongside some of the best hill climbers in the sport but Richardson remained undaunted with the former Hafren Cycling Star installed among the pre race favourites for glory.

Richardson’s cycling career has continued to go from strength and is now among the stars of the Brother UK-FusionRT team as part of their national road racing squad.

Richardson added: “I am looking forward to British National Hill Climb Championship. It’s another top quality field with the world and national champions among the starters but I am among the favourites and am aiming to continue my winning run.”
