MARK Layton has been crowned Newtown Premier Darts League title for a fourth time.

The Welsh captain overcame Chris Hurds 4-1 before defeating defending champion Gareth Ashley 4-2 in the semi-finals to set up a final meeting with Steve Price who had beaten James Bradford 4-2 and Mitch Butler 4-2 to book a place in the final

However the final was all about Layton who stormed to a 5-0 victory to celebrate a record breaking fourth title.

Meanwhile the Newtown Darts Organisation opened its season on Sunday.

Aberystwyth’s Martin Thomas starred, beating Pennal’s Steve Evans 5-3 and Chris Hurds 5-1, in the final of the challenge events.

The organisation continues with challenge three and four at Newtown Football Club on November 10 at 12.30pm.
