WELSHPOOL maintained their solid start top the North Wales League Two season with a thrilling 29-25 victory at Abergele.

Tries from Nick Morris, Max Cadwallader, Kieron Evans, Ryan Goodwin and Drew Evans with a brace of conversions from Dylan Walton edged the spoils for Pool.

Abergele replied with two tries and penalties from Owain Davies along with one try from Chris Marsh and a brace of conversions from Mark Benton.

Meanwhile a makeshift Llanidloes continued their early season struggles with Andrew Griffiths’ try scant consolation in a 57-5 defeat at Colwyn Bay.

Elsewhere Newtown’s clash at Wrexham was postponed along with the third division clash between Machynlleth and Pwllheli IIs.
