BRECON Corinthians electric start to the season continued with a resounding 7-0 victory over Penybont United.

The Rich Field club has now surpassed a century of goals since joining the Watson Financial Mid Wales League South at the start of the season following half a century in South Wales football.

Once again the Corinthians proved a class apart though the Polecats at least restricted their hosts to single figures.

Joel Evans led the rout with a hat-trick with Craig Evans adding a double and goals from Luke Roughley and Dale Evans completing the romp

Meanwhile Carl Price and Mark Pugh goals ensured Newcastle got their season up and running with a 2-0 home success in the local derby against a much improved Felindre.

Elsewhere youngster Mason Jones struck twice with player-manager Jordan Jones also on target in Llanidloes Town Reserves’ 3-0 win over Llandrindod Wells Reserves as the Daffodils maintained their own promising start to the campaign and pursuit of the Corries.

Kyle O’Shea also netted twice as Brecon Northcote marked their first home game of the season with a battling 4-2 win at home to Builth Wells Reserves.

Curtis Williams and the returning Jordan Ingram completed the Stags’ tally while Jordan Jarvis and Michael Evans hit back for the Bulls.

Elsewhere Jack Weston’s hat-trick inspired Knighton Town Reserves to a 5-2 victory over Presteigne Reserves in an entertaining East Radnor derby.

Billy Hyett and Justin Davies also struck for the Radnor Robins while Jarron Vaughan and Sam Roberts replied for Presteigne.
