Guilsfield 4 Rhyl 3

GUILSFIELD had the final say in a seven goal thriller at home to Rhyl.

The hosts led inside the opening minute as Steve Blenkinsop dispossessed Rhyl goalkeeper Rory Crowther to square for Adam Davies to slot home.

Rhyl briefly rallied as Arek Pisorski and Aaronn Hassall fired wide before Sam Litchfield maintained his goal scoring form with a close range finish after 10 minutes.

Guilsfield soaked up the pressure and frustrated Rhyl in their attempts to get back in the contest for the remainder of the half.

However just three minutes into the second-half Leo Riley lashed past goalkeeper Mike Jones as Rhyl reduced the arrears.

Guilsfield replied within minutes with Blenkinsop sweeping home from close range.

Rhyl hit back three minutes later as Max Peate headed home a corner to spark a sustained spell of pressure with Peate firing over from distance and Asa Hamilton denied by Jones.

Rhyl were finally rewarded when Pisorski headed home a corner with 15 minutes remaining.

However two minutes later Guilsfield regained the lead with Aaron Lloyd releasing Chris Cathrall to surge through a static Rhyl defence and drill past Crowther.

The match included nine minutes of injury time with Lloyd suffering a knee injury but the home side held firm to celebrate three hard fought points.

GUILSFIELD: Jones, Bromley, Parry, Rogers (James 82), Litchfield, Ford, Cook (Cathrall 63), Harries, Davies (Lloyd 75), Blenkinsop, Jenkins. Subs: Richards, Clifton.
