BLUE Tick George will compete in Friday's Coral Romford Puppy Cup Final.
Welshpool's Shaun Tovey has been part of a 70 share syndicate for the greyhound for the past year and will be among those cheering on the 20 month old racing dog for the £10,000 first prize.
The Blue Tick syndicate bought the greyhound from Ireland and has been trained by highly regarded trainer Jim Daly.
"I purchased a share a year ago in the hope of having a dog good enough to compete in next year's derby. The syndicate kindly gave me the honour of naming him after the late George Williams.
"He has made his mark already by progressing through the cup heats. He has a chance in the final and we are all hoping for the best."
Blue Tick George has won two of his three career races and heads into the 400m flat race looking to add to his impressive career to date with his odds 9/2 at 3.30pm on Thursday.
