WELSHPOOL Rugby Club hosted the touring RBS Six Nations trophy and Triple Crown this week.
Wales is currently enjoying Rugby World Cup fever after Wales’ opening group game victory over Georgia in Japan on Monday.
Meanwhile Welshpool Rugby Club is riding high after a bright start to the North Wales League Two season and progress secured in the WRU Bowl last week
On Tuesday night the RBS Six Nations and Triple Crown trophies won by Wales earlier in the year arrived in Welshpool as part of a nationwide tour led by the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU).
The club’s Maesydre ground hosted the silverware as club officials, players, juniors, sponsors and supporters turned out in the droves for their opportunity to touvh the world famous trophies.
Welshpool Rugby Club vice chairman Tom Carter said: “We were delighted to have the trophies at Welshpool Rugby Club.
“A huge thank you to the Welsh Rugby Union and the club committee for enabling the event.
“It was a wonderful evening with a fantastic atmosphere and we were delighted to be able to open the doors to the wider community and to see the club house full of happy families, club members and faces old and new.
“It was a great opportunity for people to get their hands on these iconic trophies and also to see what Welshpool Rugby Club is all about as a family club with something on offer for everyone.”
Wales continue their World Cup adventure in Japan against Australia on Sunday before taking on Fiji on Wednesday and concluding their group programme against Uruguay the following Sunday.
