TEENAGER Sam Stoker marked a successful season on the saddle by ending second in the in the Welsh National Cross Country Mountain Bike series.

The 14 year old from Bwlch-Y-Garreg near Caersws took his cycling skills the length and breadth of the country to contest the championship with rounds as far afield as Wrexham and Llandysul.

Many of the courses included technical sections, gruelling ascents and nerve testing descents.

Stoker began competitive racing three years ago and will now look to replicate his cross country mountain bike form to the cyclocross discipline.
