NEWTOWN IIs cemented their Henshalls League Five survival with a seven wicket win at Beacon IIs.

Paul Hawthorn (3-28), Matt Humphreys (2-25) and Craig Davies (2-10) completed Beacon’s demise for 83 with Lewis Tomkins (19) top scoring for the hosts.

Dai Brown (34no) carried his bat in reply and despite the best efforts of John Howarth (2-20) was joined by Dave Wilkinson (16) and Davies (18no) in steering Town to 84-3 and glory.

Alberbury IIs also signed off the season with a 43 run win at home to Much Wenlock IIs.

Katie Green (49), Andrew Wynne (25) and Rob Owen (21) helped the hosts to 179-9 to defend with Richard Bill (3-33), Oliver Pygott (2-54) and Pete Searle (2-16) taking wickets.

Alex Hughes (3-4) starred in reply and joined by Angus Little (2-17), Tom Haigh (2-14) and Ed Roberts (2-21) in dismissing Wenlock for 136 with Connor Bennett (36) and Sam George (35no) top scoring.

Relegated Montgomery IIs also ended the summer with a one wicket win at Whitchurch IIs.

Mike Williams (3-21) helped restrict the hosts to 153-6 with Dave Weaver (31), Ashley Heath (22) and Alex Heath (22no) top scoring.

Gareth Jones (37no) was joined by David Thomas (22) and tailenders Keith Griffiths (14), David Jones (16) and Williams (13) in guiding Monty to 154-9 and glory in reply.
