Gresford 0 Guilsfield 2
GUILSFIELD climbed into the top half of the table with a hard fought win at Gresford Athletic.
Both sides had chances with Adam Davies curling a free-kick wide on minutes for the Guils before Owen Roberts lashed over the bar at the other end.
However Guilsfield led on 25 minutes with Sam Litchfield lashing home from close range after the home defence failed to clear Davies’ corner.
Davies almost added a second before the break only for his 20 yard free-kick to forced goalkeeper Ben Jones into action.
The second-half proved a dour affair and despite home pressure the Mid Wales side were not unduly troubled.
Gresford saw penalty appeals rejected when Alex Buxton went down in the area in Gresford’s most meaningful moment.
Guilsfield could have added to their tally only for the heroics of Jones.
Jones tipped another Davies free-kick around the post on 66 minutes before producing a smart save to deny Jolyon Harries after good work between Davies and Jack Richards.
The pressure finally told with Davies blasting home a late free-kick to ensure the points for Guilsfield.
GUILSFIELD: Jones, Cathrall, Parry, Rogers, Litchfield, Ford, Lloyd (Bromley 79), Harries, Davies, Cook (Richards 68), Blenkinsop. Subs: Clifton, Leonard.
