A NEW era has begun at Welshpool Golf Club.

Substantial work to the course has been undertaken with the utilisation of water resources including excavation of the largest pond and widening the green on the 14th hole.

Fern and bracken has also been removed while tee boxes levelled and re-turfed while further improvements planned for later in the year include work on drainage and path renovation.

The course changes have been led by new course manager Jon Gamble along with greenkeeper Mark Fletcher with the support of captain Mark Bell, secretary Ken Stephens and chairman Martin Hughes.

Hughes said: “ There is an exciting buzz around the clubhouse at the moment and we look forward to the future with the improvements that we have planned for both the clubhouse and the course.

“ We invite all members of the public to come up and see what we have already done to date and discuss our future plans with us.”
