Llanfair UTD 2 Rhyl 3

LLANFAIR United were left to rue a last gasp missed penalty as Rhyl held out for victory at Mount Field.

The match burst into life on 19 minutes when ex-Guilsfield striker Asa Hamilton converted a penalty after being tripped in the area by Gethin Jones.

However five minutes later the hosts hit back with Karl Seliaerts releasing Paul Griffiths to drill home.

Both sides had openings with Seliaerts denied by Rhyl goalkeeper Keighan Jones before home custodian Mark Richards was tested by Cai Owen at the other end.

Rhyl regained their lead with a second penalty on 32 minutes with Hamilton again successful after Steve Thomas was clattered in the area by Alun Hughes.

Rhyl went close to adding a third on half-time with Max Peate drilling inches wide of target.

Hamilton fired wide after the break before Rhyl added a third on the hour with Aaron Hassall firing home from 20 yards.

Llanfair responded within five minutes with a curling corner from Griffiths dipping under the bar.

Llanfair laid siege with Aron James going close to levelling before late drama saw Seliaerts bundled over by goalkeeper Jones to earn an injury-time penalty.

However Seliaerts' spot-kick was saved by Jones as a relieved Rhyl held out for three points.
