COBRA 20 Dolgellau 15
COBRA are off the mark in North Wales League One with a 20-15 victory over Dolgellau in midweek.
With both sides having lost their season opener at the weekend it was crucial to get that all-important win to settle the nerves.
The first half hour was a very tense affair with both sides kicking two penalties.
Gwion Jones kicked the penalties for the visitors with Will Worthington replying for the Meifod hosts.
With half time approaching, COBRA made the all-important touch down for the game's first try by number eight Jack Jukes, converted by Worthington, to give a half time lead of 13-6.
However Dolgellau hit back with a penalty from Jones before the break.
The visitors rocked COBRA early in the second half with a period of sustained pressure resulting in three penalties as Jones kicked Dolgellau into 15-13 lead.
With defences on top, it took a wonderful long pass by Worthington to Richard Jones out wide who sliced through the Dolgellau defence to cross for a try with Worthington adding the extras.
Dolgellau exerted pressure in the last ten minutes but had to be content with a losing bonus point as COBRA held firm.
