LLANFAIR United opened their North Wales Women’s League campaign with a 12-1 rout at Wrexham.

United ended runners-up following a controversial season last term and have set their sights on glory this year.

The Mid Wales side hit the ground running at Colliers Park with goals from Sarah Ellis, Sophie Cook, Gemma Jones, Nia Ellis and Mary Griffiths establishing a five goal lead after 35 minutes.

Jones completed her brace five minutes later before Sarah Ellis followed up to complete her own brace after Griffiths’ free-kick parried into her path.

Cook and Griffiths both completed their doubles after the interval before Nia Ellis netted her second of the day.

Jones took the player of the match award with her hat-trick completed from the spot before adding her fourth with the outclassed hosts reducing the arrears with an injury-time consolation.
