MONTGOMERY cemented their mid-table position with a comfortable four wicket win at home to St Georges IIs in Henshalls Shropshire League Two.
Ed Bennett (3-43) celebrated the key wicket of opener Matthew Conniffe (20) before Matthew Chesters and Ryan Forester revived the Saints order for the fifth wicket.
Ieaun Griffiths (1-33) dislodged Chesters for a top scoring 44 before Gwynn Williams (4-26) swept through the visiting middle and tail end while also claiming Forester, caught by Griffiths for 40, to complete St Georges’ demise for 155.
Allan Myatt (2-36) struck early in reply with Naz Akhtar (1-34) also making his presence felt before Charlie Clinton (28) and Aaron Ruff-Cock (20) steadied the ship for Monty.
Both fell to Wasim Chohan (3-40) before captain Sam Williams (45no) and Rob Bennett (15no) combined for the seventh wicket to steer Monty to 156-6 and glory.
