LLANDRINDOD Wells head into the revamped Swalec Division Three East Central C at the start of a new era.

Club legends Geraint Evans and Richard Watkins hung up their boots at the end of last season through injury.

However Watkins has remained at the club as forward coach with Carl Whyman taking on the backs coach role while Josh Hammond will continue as captain.

The Budgies have welcomed the return of Dan Oakley from county rivals Rhayader while George Williams, Ben Anderson and Alistair Gardener-Smith have also signed for the season.

Meanwhile Aled Price also returns and will be a key player alongside brothers Dan and Gareth Oakley and other senior players Sam Davies, Ash Hammond and Rob Davies.

Last year’s player of the season, centre Jake Hammond will continue to be available despite moving out of the area.

Meanwhile due to a restructure of the pyramid, division three East Central C will have 18 teams with teams playing each other either home or away.

Captain Jos Hammond said: “Llandrindod have one extra home game than away game and will be targeting a top three finish which if we continue to improve like last season will be a realistic target.”

The Budgies are joined in the league by Knighton based Trefyclawdd with the rivals meeting at Border Park in the season opener.
