WELSHPOOL Rugby Club go into the new North Wales League Two campaign aiming to maintain the strides at Maesydre.

Coach Dai Roberts has put his troops through their paces with a testing pre-season including friendlies against Dowlais, Dolgellau and Llanidloes to go into the season with confidence.

Roberts said: “After two seasons of consolidation and cup success we are looking to to improving our league standing this season.

“We have three great leaders in co-captain’s Dylan Walton, Ryan Goodwin and Tom Davies while Jake Best and Joe Stranks remain big players for the club.”

Pool must make do without Harry Davies and Meical Jones with the duo not expected back from New Zealand until the New Year while Ben Bloor has retired.

However the club has boosted its attack with the promotion of Jason Isaacs to the senior ranks having carried his impressive form of last season into the summer.

Roberts added: “We had a tough pre season at the request of the boys and are now looking forward to welcoming Wrexham to Maesydre for the season opener on Saturday.”
