Newtown faced eastern champions Newport n in the final and another superb bowling display restricted the Shropshire side to 19 with spinners Fyfe Davies, Evan Smout and Owain Jones impressing.

Newtown found runs hard to come by in reply before captain Charlie Evans picked up the pace to guiding Newtown to 63 and the crown of Shropshire champions.

A club official commented: “Sunday was a fantastic day for the club.

“The club have worked extremely hard this year in developing the next batch of exciting young players with a majority able to play senior cricket within the next year and a half.

“Praise goes to Jonathon Davies and Sam Morris who have coached the players for the past year.

“The future of Newtown Cricket is looking strong.”
