Prestatyn Town 1 Guilsfield 0

GUILSFIELD tasted opening night defeat as a Rob Hughes penalty clinched the Friday night spoils for Prestatyn Town.

Adam Jenkins tested home goalkeeper Ryan Woods early on before Jordan Davies spurned the hosts first opening on 13 minutes.

An even first-half yielded chances for both sides with Griffiths forcing Guilsfield goalkeeper Mike Jones into action before former TNS defender Kai Edwards headed over.

The Guils also had their moments with Jolyon Harries firing just wide.

However on the stroke of half-time the Guils were dealt a blow when Andy Ford was adjudged to have brought down Jack Kenny in the area with the resulting penalty despatched by Hughes.

Guilsfield began the second-half with intent and almost levelled on the hour with Steve Blenkinsop steering Jake Cook’s left wing cross just over the bar.

Prestatyn also threatened with Jones forced to tip a long range effort from Hughes around the post.

Guilsfield continued to take the game to their hosts with Chris Cathrall’s introduction providing further problems for the home defence.

However Prestatyn ended strongly and came close to adding a second only for Davies to fire onto the woodwork.

GUILSFIELD: Jones, Bromley (Cathrall), Richards, Rogers, Lichfield, James, Cook, Ford, Blenkinsop (Davies), Harries, Jenkins. Subs: Lloyd, Clifton.
