Llanrhaeadr 1 Penrhyncoch 2

JONNY Evans struck late as Penrhyncoch stunned Llanrhaeadr to snatch victory at Tanllan.

The match was marked with a minute’s silence in honour of clubman Bob Williams who passed away earlier in the week following a lifetime service to Llanrhaeadr Football Club.

Neither side managed to create many clear openings in a tight first-half with Evans firing wide for the Roosters before Tom Bailey headed wide for the hosts.

Penrhyn could have edged ahead on the stroke of the interval only for Antonio Corbisiero to fire wide.

The second-half continued in the same vein with Corbisiero denied penalty appeals before both Tom Gale fired over for the home side.

Penrhyn led on the hour with Tom Evans’ steering a header from Corbisiero’s corner into the path of Liam Lewis who broke the deadlock.

Lewis lashed just wide with 15 minutes remaining as the Roosters sought to seal the points.

Llanrhaeadr looked to have levelled late on with Matthew Williams heading home Tom Evans’ cross.

However Penrhyn staged a dramatic injury time victory with Evans drilling home from close range after Llanrhaeadr failed to clear their lines.
