DYFFRYN Banw Football Club will mark a new era this season.

Former club goalkeeper Awi Williams and ex-Bettws player Jon Higgins have taken joint charge of the MMP-NL Mid Wales League Two club which began its season with a 1-0 win over Churchstoke last week.

The duo arrive having managed last season’s successful Welshpool Town under 16s side which dominated the Mid and North Powys Junior League and won the annual Quartix Winter League.

Several graduates of the Welshpool under 16s set-up have joined Williams and Higgins in making the trip to the Llangadfan-based club

Sion Williams, Rhun Jones, Ross Issac, Jack Jones, Tomi Bowen, Owain James, Oliver Higgins, Dan Morgan, Efan Davies, Arwyn Evans and Kyffin Morgan all step up to senior football with Banw from Welshpool.

Meanwhile former Bettws midfielder Higgins has also tempted son Harrison Higgins back into the game following several years without playing competitive football, while nephew Will Lister arrives having graduated from the Newtown White Stars set up.

Banw have added experience to their ranks with former Llanfyllin Town regular Ryan Jones and striker Iwan Parry also arriving from the defunct Llanwddyn.

Williams said: “We have added to a good core of lads and are hoping an exciting season ahead while also expecting this season to be transitional.”
