Airbus UK 4 Llanfair United 0

LLANFAIR United ended second best at JD Cymru Premier new boys Airbus UK Broughton in the second round of the Nathaniel MG Cup.

United endured a nightmare start with star midfielder Paul Griffiths hobbling off injured before Gethin Stephens steered James Hooper’s 10th minute cross into his own net.

However United stoutly frustrated their hosts for the remainder of the half with goalkeeper Danny Foulkes producing a fine save from Alex Darlington’s free-kick to remain in contention at half-time.

Airbus wasted little time in tightening their grip in the second-half with Steve Tomassen scrambling home inside the opening minute.

Former TNS star Darlington twice went close in the space of as many minutes before Airbus sealed victory on the hour with Wrexham loanee Matty Sargent lashing home.

Foulkes kept the Wingmakers at bay with a smart double save to deny Joe Palmer before Darlington finally celebrated a goal with a 74th minute free-kick.

United could have grabbed a late consolation only for Matt Bumford to fluff his lines under pressure from home goalkeeper Dave Roberts as Airbus completed a comprehensive victory.
