Guilsfield 1 Llandudno 0

ADAM Jenkins fired a late winner as Guilsfield upset the odds at home to Llanududno.

The Seasiders, relegated from the JD Cymru Premier last season, arrived in Mid Wales as favourites despite missing star summer signings Jacob Farleigh and Alfons Fosa-Mensah

Both sides had to contend with strong winds but despite the testing conditions the two sets of players served up an entertaining game albeit short of clear cut openings.

At the end of the first-half the hosts almost forced a breakthrough with Jenkins forcing Llandudno goalkeeper Shaun Pearson into an outstanding triple save.

Llandudno threatened after the break with veteran captain Danny Hughes forcing goalkeeper Mike Jones into a fingertip save with Anthony Marshall going close from the resulting corner.

With time ebbing away it was the hosts who snatched an 84th minute winner with a long throw from substitute Chris Cathrall seized upon by Jenkins who fired home from close range to maintain the Guils’ unbeaten start to the season and seal a place in the third round of the Nathaniel MG Cup.

GUILSFIELD: Jones, Bromley, Richards, Rogers, Litchfield, James, Cook, Harries (Cathrall), Davies, Blenkinsop, Jenkins. Subs: Clifton. Barton, Garthwaite.
