NEWTOWN suffered a skittling in a 51 run defeat at Shrewsbury IIs in Henshalls Shropshire League One.
Dave Laird (4-16) and Joe Monk (3-24) led the Town attack with Tom Anderson (1-19), Dave Anthony (1-18) and Bryant Galpin (1-18) restricting the hosts to 106 to defend.
Joshua Anders (21), Daniel Manders (15), Henry Blofield (14) and Harry Cooke (10) claimed double figures for the Shrews.
Town’s reply could not have got off to a worst start with openers Laird and John Anthony each removed for golden ducks by Bradley Thornton (2-16).
Wickets continued to tumble as Blofield (2-5) struck to dismiss Anderson for a duck and Cook (5) before Sam Morris was run out by Mikhil Jain for one.
Newtown’s challenge all but ended when Ricky Davues was caught by Llyr Thomas off Manders for 20.
Manders (3-13) was joined by Cooke (1-6) in completing Newtown’s skittling for 55 in the 36th over.
