MATTHEW Higgins has been clocking up the miles as he continues his successful karting season.

The Trefeglwys teenager started off the month with a fifth place finish in the latest rounds of the British Karting Championship.

Higgins carried his form to Glan Y Gors Park in Cerrigydrduion for the seventh and eighth rounds of the championship and despite winning the opening heat he was unable to complete victory in the finals.

Despite his final disappointment Higgins retained his championship position and will look to end the season on a high in the final two rounds.

Meanwhile Higgins competed in the BNL Championship in Belgium where he finished 11th in the final after starting from the back after a penalty, to leave him eighth in the championship.

This weekend Higgins heads to the British Kart Grand Prix-Kartmasters at PFi in Grantham, thee biggest UK Kart race of the year with theprestigious GP Plate in his sights.
