ALBERBURY IIs celebrated a seven wicket derby win at Newtown IIs in Henshalls Shropshire League Five.

Despite the loss of opener Dai Brown, run out by Andrew Wynne for four, the hosts built a solid second wicket partnership with Matthew Knight joined by Ian Hancocks.

Oliver Corbett called time on Knight (20) before Hancocks was caught by Nick Williams off Lara Jones (1-49) for 49.

Ricky Davies led the middle order with support from Matt Humphreys until the latter was bowled by Owain Roberts (1-29) for 25

Corbett completed his (2-44) with the wicket of Paul Hawthorn to leave Ralph Barraclough (3no) to join Davies (57no) in an unbroken sixth wicket partnership to leave Newtown to 180-5 to defend.

Charles Bourne and Andrew Wynne led the Alberbury reply with a solid first wicket partnership.

Jonathon Davies ended the partnership with Wynne caught by Hawthorn for 33 before Bourne was caught by Knight off Brandon Baynham (1-39) for 51.

James Wynne continued to work the scoreboard alongside Joss Elliott before the latter was caught by Ricky Davies off Jonathon Davies (2-20).

Rhys Phillips (10no) joined Wynne (46no) in an unbroken fourth wicket partnership to steer Alberbury to 182-3 and victory in the 28th over.
