Rhayader Youth Motocross Club’s Cwmythig Hill hosted the annual Welsh National in glorious conditions last weekend.

The event was sponsored by Links, Boatside Accomadation, JKJ Racing UK, D M Morgan Electrical , Paradise Holidays and Grant Mayhew Construction.

The combined AMX/Open class was won by Andrew Gillett who won three of the weekend’s four races to be crowned Welsh Open champion with Rhayader’s Shaun Buchan second and Joe Roberts completing the podium.

Teenager Billy Jones won two of his class races to take the Welsh AMX title with Rhayader’s Iwan Roberts second while local riders Callum Evans and Marl Roberts just missed out on the podium.

Meanwhile Richard Jones swept to glory in the novice class while Cotswolds-based James Hyett won the senior class after seeing off the challenge of Dan Maule and Kyle Biggs.

Lewis Roden won three races to be crowned Welsh Big Wheel king with the Small Wheel Championship won by Jay Bond.

Jayden Jones topped the junior class with local interest led by Charlie Jones who claimed a fifth place finish.

Ifan Rees won the auto class with a clean sweep with Gruff Morgan second from Sean Smout in third.

Nathan Davies is the Welsh veterans champion with Matt Garrett and Craig Scott completing the podium.
