WELSHPOOL remain rooted to the foot of the Henshalls Shropshire League Two table despite a spirited five wicket defeat at home to Sentinel IIs.

Opener Dan Chodecki (26) was joined by James Breese (26) in top scoring with Russell Cadwallader (18), Paul Chapman (17) and Patrick Wilding (16) helping Pool to 141-8 to defend.

Matty Cliffe (4-43) and Phil Caudle (2-15) led the Sentinel attack.

Matt McWhinnie and Tom Bowen claimed early wickets in reply but Sentinel worked the scoreboard through Ralph Bishop and Caudle’s third wicket stand.

Bishop was finally stumped by Wilding off Rob Anderson (1-30) before McWhinnie completed his 2-18 with Owen Morris caught by Breese for four.

Bowen (2-47) celebrated the wicket of Caudle (41) but Sentinel were not to be denied with Darren Bullock (16no) steering Sentinel to 142-5 in the 32nd over.
